I just got this email... I have no idea what ADIT means... Does this mean approval? Good luck to those still waiting .. especially the EB3 crowd...

Just so that we are clear, please note that signing online petitions doesn't mean anything if there is no matching advocacy. Timing of the activity is also very important. In the end, advocacy and grassroots effort must compliment each other at the same time. The website you are referring is an advertisement website. Its not a resource for serious advocacy effort.
The Congress is right now focused on DREAM Act. If we just say "Erase Green card backlog", it will mean nothing. But there is a chance if we send specific targeted message asking to include specific provisions in the bill that appear to be moving (i.e. DREAM Act in this case), and IV is complimenting this message with the advocacy on the ground.
Just sending random email from some online advertisement for profit website does not mean anything. We think that some of these websites are just collecting your Email and Home Address, which they could sell for making profit.
Immigration Voice would like to request its all members not to send out random messages from advertisement websites because such messages are out of sink with reality. Please participate in the well defined and targeted 'Action Items' on IV.

You can quit after six months and then if taken to a court of law, you can tell the court that the employer refused to give you employment letter and under duress, you were forced to sign the letter. Your other option was to pack bags and leave the country if the employer did not give you the letter. And you can argue that the law lets you change employer after 180 days and hence you are not breaking the law. You can also argue that if the employer had not acted in bad faith by refusing to give you employment letter, you would have continued to work for the employer.
Ofcourse, you will need a very good lawyer if you want to fight the case on moral grounds (because it may be more expensive to fight the case than just pay the amount agreed to in the letter).

I mailed mine on May 25 and up to now I haven't gotten anything yet. My lawyer mailed it to NSC and since my I-140 is pending with the TSC, my lawyer said they will just forward it there. It's taking too long. Anybody in the same boat as I am?

With all the news floating around about the VISAs getting exhausted in early July on one side and having an employer who does not seem too eager to apply for I485 since past two months, how does one deal with it ?
I wish all this was a little less complicated..:confused:

Question to IV core...
After receiving the standard email respose from the congressman/senator...I am wondering are they even aware about the legal immigrants. All we are getting the standard template which is talking about only illegals and DREAM.
No mention about legals ?
Please read my earlier responses on this thread. We need to now take up this issue further and tell them we did not get satisfactory response and need serious attention to our issue as a constituent.

To all sorts of flower campaigns,
Let us first complete July 10th mission flower campaign, where many people here including me has sent flowers for july 10th delivery.
Let us see its impact by July 11th and then try another round by sending flowers to local senators and congressmen with simple message of costs involved and lost money and oppurtunity by revised july bulletin.
Also, unless we make explicit mention of costs involved, i think impact wouldnot be felt.
Please plan the missions one after the other.

Please write a letter to CIS Ombudsman and they will open a case with USCIS to follow up and it will have results. I have done it once and I got the response from USCIS faster.

If 485 can be filed for both primasy and dependent when EB is current or FB is current
this will really work pretty well. dependents can be on EAD/AP status in this case.

The I485s for both primary and dependent could be filed either if the family or the employment category is current.
i.e. assume my PD is X. If X is current in FB category but not in EB category - both the primary and the dependent should still be able to file I485. Same happens if X is current in EB and not in FB.
In this scenario - if the family based category is retrogressed:
Option 1: Spouce can wait the retrogression out in AP/EAD.
Option 2: Primary can become a citizen in 5 years and then "upgrade" the I485 to a new FB category with no retrogression.
Without this joint filing if either category is current - it can cause nightmares for the dependent if the primary gets a GC and the dependent loses H4/L2.

IV is trying to get rid of retrogression which is a great goal. However, this very thing has caused hundreds and thousands of children to age out. Would it be awful to add this into the matter. I know our lives have been put on hold waiting and waiting but some of our childrens lives have been thrown down the pan in that time. We will eventually have passage to permanent residency they will not.

when american's from such third rate schools are not getting jobs, do you seriously think foreigners with their funny accents and relatively poor English communication skills (I'm Indian and can tell you its still a second language to me) can get jobs??
The market has a way of regulating itself. As someone mentioned above, there were a a lot of H1 space available from 2001-03. But it never got filled because there were simply not enough jobs. Lets not try to set up govenment intervention here....let the free market decide....that is what made this country great.
btw, NumbersuSA, FAIR and other restrictionist organizations have zero credibility because they oppose even legal immigration.
