Before SKIL bill there were Talent Bill and PACE act which were pending for a long time. the senate has not taken up the immigration reform debate yet. and it can be postponed forever. So how much hope is there for SKIL bill ?
Also after senate, there is a bigger hurdle, the house of representatives. Remember the Budget Reconciliation Bill was passed in Senate with the Immigration related Clauses. But was stripped off in the House. So is there any hope ?

i think it is very clear empirically that h1b is for a temp job and is a non-immigrant visa. it allows the employer to hire for a full time job too... whenever that intention is expressed, it should be expressed to DOL and USCIS in terms of PERM and I-140... thats that... once the h1 visa beneficiary is a beneficiary to I-140, then that person can apply for COS and avail AC21... so, i think it is clear that by itself h1 is temp. AC21 simply allows for h1 holder to extend H1 in case labor is clear and 140 is applied (labor expires in 6 months). further: ac21 allows job change after 485 app.
As per info on that page, it says clearly

How can you say that any H-1B job is permanent? Now, you don't want to believe even the dol web page.

Employers can (at least they do) discriminate EAD holders. Here is an example and related link:

Wait until November for Democrats to gain control ?
I am sorry, but that is the opposite of what 4 recent elections have shown. In spite of Republicans bad reputation, the American people seem to have replaced incumbents based on their position on illegal immigration/amnesty, not necessarily on their party. Those of us waiting to see Democrats regaining control may be heading towards a disappointment. I am not sure if others understand what we are up against. That's exactly what members of the House want:if you wait after November, more likely than not a number of incumbents may be kicked out of the office. Then it would be easier to pass a House enforcement bill.
Is the only hope. Reality is that we have to wait for November and hope that Democrats will gain power at the House. Is important to undestand that only the conservative repubblican are blocking and killing the bill. We have to hope for the Democrats to gain control.

With H1-B people had some idea that apps might get rejected..in this case it was a total miscommunication....now some people might say miscommunication is not illegal which I strongly disagree...

DOS made it effective 2nd ,
"Effective Monday July 2, 2007 there will be no further authorizations in response to requests for Employment-based preference cases. All numbers available to these categories under the FY-2007 annual numerical limitation have been made available. "
USCIS by law cant accept any applications effective 2nd.
People whoes H1B applications were accepted on first day and then were rejected , Can they have done something?

2. We should use our lobbying resources and connections to contact decision makers from NumberUSA, FAIRUS.org and other major organizations and communicate our plans. We should clearly adopt a position against any bill which supports amnesty and offer a sensible, reasonable and fair quantitative increase in Employment Visa numbers. An example of reasonable proposals would be temporary increase of visa numbers, elimination of visa lottery and reallocation of visa numbes to EB, visa number recapture.

I currently have a job offer from the client .
My previous company has applied in perm as Software engineer , Applications as Job Title and Job Description is PeoplesoftSoft, Peopletools ,SQR
My client would like to hire me as Peoplesoft Developer. but I am expecting a raise in salary of atleast 30%.
Would this be a problem ?
When you say Job description should be more or less same what exactly does that mean. Should it be exactly different or some minor change is ok ?
Help me out as I have to decide on the offer by weekend.

...... because my AOS got filed last year, I made the decision to let go of my canadian GC.
How did you let go of it. Did you have to tell the canadian consulate and send in your passport for them to remove your visa. I will be hitting the 3 year mark end of this year.

The point system has worked well in both Canada and New Zealand and have moved those who meet the threshold through the immigration system faster. As an non paying IV member, I am not in favor of opposing the current bill.
Where did you get this idea that IV is opposed to the point system? Any reference to the IV analysis or the core member response would be appreciated before you put such a claim.
We have identified our objectives clearly. Taking a position for the bill (in favor of or in opposition to) does not neccesarily mean that we want to kill this bill, but instead we like the congress to treat this community fairly and at parity with the undocumented immigrants and family-based applicants in the current Immigration Reform bill S. 1348.
