I am starting this thread ONLY for those who filed their 485's to the TSC from July 5th till July 31, 2007. If you have receipt notices for your filings in between these dates, please reply here. I am concerned with what's happening with our submissions at the TSC? Thanks.

Applied for EAD on June 08 2008
Got approval on July 21 2008
Got EAD on July 31 2008
Two year EAD with Expiry date of 10/02/2010 (My first EAD was expiring on 10/03/2008
Spouse got EAD one day before.
I-485 Category is EB3

FYI - for those approved and waiting for cards in the mail! Here are the details for self, spouse and child - all approved at the same time.
CPO - Email recd on Aug 11 saying CPO on Aug 9.
Aug 12 - Hard LUD saying Welcome Notice Mailed on Aug 12
Aug 13 - Soft LUD
Aug 15 - Hard LUD saying Approval Notice mailed on Aug 14
Aug 18 - Welcome Notice and physical cards received for all of us. No Approval Notice yet! Not sure if I will receive one.

140K GCs were available on Oct 1 2005 and Oct 2006: categories were not current.
< 40K GCs were available on June 12 2007: all categories were current.
If there is a law to prevent acceptance of ALL AOS's on Oct 1 (when 140K GCs are available) then that law was violated on June 12 2007.
If there is no law to prevent acceptance of AOS's on June 12 (when < 40K GCs were available) then all categories should have been current on Oct 1 2005 and Oct 1 2006.

I thought we have made immense progress with regard to our moral standards so that one does not have to necessarily make significant personal sacrifices to upholds ones way of life and independence. That is why I believe this is be kind of a Civil rights/Equal Employment kind of case.
It could be argued that the supreme court has given the government authority to discriminate based on country of origin for immigration purposes. That could easily be justified for new people coming into the country. Albiet it is slightly different from the case of most of us, those who are already in the process at some stage. In our case, DOS/DOL/USCIS acknowledge that we should be granted permanent residence (based on Labor) and even on such basis, is willing to extend our visas/work status indefinitely. However, we are being limited to not change employer (in case 485 is not applied) and to not change the field of work (in case 485 is applied). I think this can be argued as a violation of Equal Employment Oppurtunity by the government by a competent lawyer. Even if the court does not do anything, it will go a long way in people and common people realising these issues.
I was surprised to find that even my cousin (who has been here since 1980) did not realise that the situation is so bad until we had a discussion about my status last christmas. Most just assume that a small minority of people with wierd/complicated cases are held up for longer then 2-3-4 years.

I called my attorney today to inquire about this and he told me that one-third to one-fourth of the applications that he has filed in July are yet to receive the FP notices and he asked me not to worry about it.
Hope he is true and that we will be getting the FP notices soon.

Nope, I haven't got the receipt nos for one set of checks yet, I guess people filing with TSC are getting receipt nos & also the notices.I know few friends of mine got thier notices too

Yeah no problem. We all have egos. Dont apologize, instead spend money on court and attorneys.
I had an RFE from NSC that they wanted to see experience letter from employer from specific format. They specifically said in RFE that they didnt want to see affidavits or paystubs or offer letter or any other document. Remember EB2 category criterion is "5 years of progressive work experience" word progressive is important and offer letter doesnt prove it.
If you havent been in this situation, do not offer unnecessary advise based on your gut feeling.

People, the bill is called "Comprehensive Immigration Reform". It can only be comprehensive if it takes into account the legal population and the illegal population. This bill could not come at a better time for us with the mid-term elections coming up. The Executive Branch of Government is pressuring for passage of this legislation. It will be a huge issue for the mid-term elections. The Republican House is in a no win situation, passage means amnesty (their words, not mine) and non-passage makes them look ineffective. For now all we can do is sit back and wait and watch. It will take the majority of the house spin doctors a while to figure out how to proceed with maximum benefit for the Republican Party. This is the nature of politics.
For a little entertainment, we can always predict next months visa bulletin! (Sorry, I couldn't resist).

Why did you come here instead of home country ... i came here to do the landing, and thought i'll do the visa stamping as well + Regular employer/ job /education questions ...come back tomorrow to collect the passport
