Few days ago, I saw this on TV - An American soldier died in Iraq leaving behind a 29 year old Polish wife and 6-month-old US citizen baby. Wife's paper (adjustment of status from K1->GC) was pending for 6 months or so with USCIS. When USCIS came to know about the death of that soldier (US citizen and I do not know how they came to know about it), they issued deportation order for his wife. Reason being, primary applicant is no more in this world so his dependent's application is null and void. She has been running from door to door with a baby in one arm and death letter of her husband with deportation order in the other arm. There is no one to listen to her. She lost her husband; she is going to lose her house and ability to stay in this country.
I absolutely hate to say this but Mehul, I think your wife will be better off in her home country. Please weight this option as well. My prayers are with you.

My order so far is follows
Aug 12 8AM - Email -> Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.
Aug 12 9PM - Email -> Card production ordered.
Aug 15 - Email -> Approval notice sent (for ME)
Aug 18 - Email -> Approval notice sent for Spouse
Aug 18 - Received I-797C Approval Notice for both me and spouse by USPS. In fact i received 3 original copies of the same approval for me and only 1 for my spouse.
Still waiting for the actual cards to come.

But for us we got only notices saying that it is approved and the message on the Notice says
"The above application has been approved. Prior to receiving your permanent resident card you may be required to report for biometrics processing (photo/fingerprint/signature). Please do not take any action at this time. If you are required to report for this processing, you will receive another notice advising you of the date time and location to appear.
If you have not received your permanent resident card or the above mentioned notice to appear for biometrics processing within 90 days, please call this office at the number listed below"
Please do let me know if any body in the same situation and do we need to do any thing for it.

If there's a recession (even with a soft landing) in 2007, as many economists and Wall Street people are saying, and we don't get SKIL Act through congress during lame-duck session -- what will it mean for us? Will business lobbies still have a strong case to sell to lawmakers amid a recession?

I think it will be smooth. Landing by road is easier than by air. You need to do the following as soon as you have landed. I recommend you land early in the morning as gov. offices are closed at noon:
1. Locate an HR office and get your SIN number. This will take 30 min to an hour once you are there. You will need to show your Passport and COPR document as a proof.
2. Locate the medical insurance office and obtain your medical insurance card.
3. Go to the post office and obtain a PO box.
4. Open a bank account. Use the PO box address as mailing addres.
Good luck.

IV could not even collect 20K in the Washington DC drive. I hardly saw EB3 folks contributing (based on my observation, I might be wrong so take it easy). If every EB3 person contributes 50USD, it will be enough to run a campaign. Action is the key, not posting in forums. Hope we get out of this EB2 vs EB3 and as focus on visa recapture.
I am EB3 and I contributed to every IV campaign including the last DC advocacy. Just because all IV efforts end up helping only EB2 does not mean EB3 people do not contribute or participate in advocacy efforts. Its just that no one wants to hear about EB3 whether it be USCIS or anyone else. :mad:

I filed on June 5th and TSC received my package on June 6th. Still my Checks hasnt cleared.
I filed 485/EAD/AP on May 31st and TSC received on June 1st. My checks haven't been cleared yet. TSC is said to be the slowest one. In a chinese forum, several people whose PD became current on June 1st got 485 approved recently. Their cases were all transferred to NSC recently.
BTW, how long will it take to get EAD? I sort of remember that it takes at most 3 months.

I'm not sure from where you are getting this impression of 'Utopia' ? We are 100% aware about the hostile & non cooperative enviornment around us. But what I'm trying to say is while we are not a favourable enviornment, we could/should still ask for things that may not attract any anti-imm... attention. Why would exepmting a person from country cap, who's been in the wait for 5 years, should see opposition, as far as we are not asking exemption from Visa number. Why should lifting country cap temporarily see opposition when we are not asking lifting cap on total green card numbers. Also you may think , you may lie low and be safe. t is a wrong impression, as lawmakers of this country are very observant and aware people. If they were to harm us, they'll do it anyway. You can't hide from them...
Some people are floating in Utopia.
Most of us are here on on the ground.
Keep watching the forums and see how many denials have been posted and we are just at the beginning stages... There are many more denials; revocations; dol audits, arrests coming.
While all this is going on; you can continue to push the envelope and try to increase EB greencards, get rid of country quota and loosen up everything.

I know many cases like this, people approach these Bodyshoppers to get H1, or to convert H4 to H1..... many pay even H1 processing fees(which is illegal)..... just pray that after getting H1 they will get some project and the employer will pay....... they won't dare to ask employer.... becoz he can just revoke H1 and just be done with it...... many many cases....
