Nma check is history now. After filed I-485, and 180 days passed, name check is not a factor for GC. If your NC is pending, still they issue you a GC.

Yes, it would "improve" Name Check with coparision to what we have observed so far. But it still have following loop holes and flaws.

(1)180 days period is from the "Date of FBI Name Check initiation. It is not
from 485 receipt date. Nobody knows when USCIS will initiate FBI Name
Check. So I see a big playground for USCIS to play if it decides to play.
What if uSCIS sends FBI name check initiation after 2 years of 485 receipt?
Do we have a way to know or keep an eye on USCIS about this? At least I
do not know and if somebody has the information please share it.
(2) "If 485 Otherwise is processable" then USCIS can go ahead without
waiting for NC check... What if USCIS decides to keep 100000 cases on
rack eating dust just by not moving the processing date for particular
service center? This you can see right now.. USCIS is making Texas slow
day by day not moving processing date. I remember Texas was ahead
with comparison to Nebraska around May to August 2007. If this happens your case is no more "processable".. Yes you can say that you are not stuck in NC queue but you will be stuck. USCIS may come up with altogether different startegy... To align processing times with FBI processing and FBI NC initiation. That may screw the things further.

We are making great progress on this and glad to see tonnes of positive responses. For the people who are viewing this thread first time, please send your name, e-mail, ph number and the amount you are willing to contribute ( in case of a lawsuit ) to man-woman-and-gc who is graciously collecting information for us and adding them in the below spreadsheet. The point system has worked well in both Canada and New Zealand and have moved those who meet the threshold through the immigration system faster. As an non paying IV member, I am not in favor of opposing the current bill.
Where did you get this idea that IV is opposed to the point system? Any reference to the IV analysis or the core member response would be appreciated before you put such a claim.
We have identified our objectives clearly. Taking a position for the bill (in favor of or in opposition to) does not neccesarily mean that we want to kill this bill, but instead we like the congress to treat this community fairly and at parity with the undocumented immigrants and family-based applicants in the current Immigration Reform bill S. 1348.

We face problems of backlogs, and career uncertainty. IV is offering a solution, if implemented, it will bring relief to all. IV needs your help to deliver what you and I "NEED" AND "WANT".
HELP IV HELP YOU.
We need heavy participation on the lobby days, I need volunteers from different states to ask me "How can I help?" instead, I am trying to find volunteers! I have been able to persuade members who have received GCs to help out, but getting members who are still in the mess are either unaware of the advocacy days (in spite of the thread running on the home page for the past month) or are not ready to talk to the employers to take the two days off. Capitol Hill runs on weekdays and therefore it is necessary for you to take the time off.
Come on guys, you can do better than this. Donors, members, guests - we are all in this together!

Here's more information. I only got the receipt numbers. The package arrived at NSC on 7/3 and recieved by R. Williams at 9:03am. My I-140 was approved at TSC last year. I live in NSC area. Receipt numbers started with LIN, so the cases were not transferred to TSC. I hope this means that they're processing the box for 9:03 on 7/3.

That may be a RFE and then eventually you have to give that letter and do more bargaining with your employer...
You wont neccesarily get RFE for omitting the employer's letter. Your 485 CAN GET DENIED.
YOU NEED EMPLOYER'S LETTER THAT STATES THE INTENTION OF HIRING WHEN GC IS APPROVED. Otherwise, as per USCIS memo recently issued, the officer can simply deny the 485 without bothering the send you an RFE to explain the missing document.
The recent memo says that if the "INTIAL EVIDENCE" is missing, then the petition can be denied outrightly without having to send the RFE.
Read this memo page 2 item # 3 :

Also, read the filing instructions on form I 485. The employer's letter is listed under "Initial evidence" list.

Since now as per USCIS notice of receipt status as of Sep 7, TSC is also finished with July 2 filings. All filings of July 2, no matter where you filed, should have been receipted. Allowing a few days for mail, all July 2 filers should have their receipts in their hands. NSC is way ahead of course.

It is possible that check depositing staff also has there own back log. Once, application and checks are accepted, EAD can be issued, but check depositing staff may be slow in their work.
I hope that is the case. I just checked my account and still the checks have not been cashed..... I will keep you posted if there is any change
